NANR was part of the joint roundtable for the presentation of the National System of Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) referring to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and climate change mitigation.
Over the past two years, this system was supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, the Urban Research Institute and the Green Climate Fund and its is already in an advanced stage of accomplishment. The target of this new system is to accurately monitor and report climate change in our country.
The main objective of the roundtable is the identification of the developed elements of this system and to consult with the participating actors on the advantages and weight in terms of the effective implementation of the system on progressive basis.
Following the official presentation of the National Greenhouse Gas Inventory System, was held a training session to build and advance the National Greenhouse Gas Inventory, in the context of Climate Change Convention, Paris Agreement, and DCM no.889 , in implementation of the law “On Climate Change”.
This training was organized for line ministries and subordinate agencies, which have the main legal responsibility data collection and development of the National Greenhouse Gas Inventory.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, through the technical support of the Urban Research Institute and funding from the Green Climate Fund, has been working over the two past years to establish a National System of Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) for emissions of greenhouse gases and climate change mitigation.
