INTERREG IPA II CROSS-BORDER COOPERATION PROGRAMME GREECE -ALBANIA 2014-2020
Project: Conservation and quality assurance of the surface water bodies in Greece and Albania using earth observation techniques “AquaNEX”
In framework of the INTERREG IPA II Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Greece -Albania 2014-2020 with reference number “A1-1.1–3” will develop the project: Conservation and quality assurance of the surface water bodies in Greece and Albania using earth observation techniques “AquaNEX” focus on the promotion of the safe, environmentally responsible and efficient supply and use of energy in all its forms and applications, for the best benefit of the Albanian society as a whole.
AquaNEX is designed to cover a significant gap in Albania surface water policy and thus, provide the foundation for future sustainable environmental and agricultural management. Technology and know-how granted to Albanian beneficiaries (river basin identification, satellite images) can be readily used for applying the WFD to the complete country. Eco hydrological modelling results in the pilot areas can be used to develop sustainable management schemes for surface water bodies and agricultural lands beyond the objectives of the project. Completion of the project will enable expansion of the advanced monitoring tools and techniques developed for the Greek pilot area (combined LIDAR-hyperspectral system, semi-autonomous navigated tool, Eco hydrological modeling, soil hydrophobicity model) to the complete CB area in both countries.
Water resource sustainability is widely mandated by European and national legislation making WFD application a priority for EU and IPA countries.
Specific targets of external expertize for the preparation of “Project Management and Coordination” (WP1) and “Innovative water quality monitoring complying to WFD” (WP3) of the AquaNEX project are as follows:
WP 1: Project Management and Coordination
Deliverable 1.5.2 – Progress reports
Deliverable 1.5.3 – Project’s 4thTechnical meeting
WP3: Innovative water quality monitoring complying with WFD”
Deliverable 3.5.2 – Characterization of a selected river basin district in terms of pressures, impacts and economics of water uses
Deliverable 3.5.3 – Development of a surveillance monitoring guide for the selected area, including the monitoring areas’ network,
Deliverable 3.5.5 – Development of a geodatabase implementing the INSPIRE data specifications.
The interested experts/or consulting firms are invited to present in support of the implementation:
